    Hello my dear friend,

All educational courses in Canada are taught in English and thus, you will have to showcase your proficiency in the English language. For the same, it is important you go ahead with an English language test like IELTS. Having said that, IELTS is not the only test that is acceptable for immigration.

Below are the tests which are acceptable for the Student Visa and the required scores:

    • IELTS: For the Student Direct Stream, you will need to score a band of 6 in each section of Reading / Writing / Listening and Speaking out of 9. If your scores are less than this, you can opt for Non-SDS. NOTE: I would recommend you to apply only in SDS category as this stream has more probability of visa success.
    • CELPIP: This is another test which is valid for Canada Student Visa. This test is easier as compared to IELTS as this is specially for Canada. The minimum score requirement in CELPIP under the SDS category is CLB 7 ie 7 in each section of Reading / Writing / Listening and Speaking out of CLB 10.
    • PTE:
    • CAEL:
    • TOFEL:

All in all, IELTS or any other English language test is obligatory before you apply for Canada Student Visa

    Hello my dear friend,

Ideally speaking, as per the immigration rules and regulations there is no age for a student to study in Canada. We have seen a Student Visa application been successful even at the age of 40 or 45. Having said that, an ideal student age is less than 32 years.

I have personally filled Student visa applications for individuals at the age of 40 but there has to be a careful examination of the profile. These are the basic parameters based on which I evaluate and decide the course, university and province for a student

    • Previous Education: Previous education of the student is a vital factor to be decided before finalizing the course. To illustrate, if the previous education has been in the field of Commerce or Business management, I would strongly recommend to go ahead with fields in Commerce or Business Management like Sales, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business Strategy, Global Business Management and other. Having said that, with several years of managerial or team management experience you might even consider courses like Project Management, Leadership and other courses which needs managerial experience. Also, if the student is from Engineering background or Information Technology even he can opt for a course of Project Management, Leadership and other courses as these progressions may demand a professional work experience.
    • Previous Work Experience: Professional work experience also plays a vital role while selection of a program / course. Sometimes, the previous education might be different but because of the specialized work involvement, a student can select a diverse program. To illustrate, I have witnessed a student who has done his Bachelor in Mathematics and computer science as one of the subject but because he has a work experience in Data Analytics, he has got his Student visa successfully in the course of Data Analytics
    • Level of program: This is one of the crucial factor and the most contributing factor for the success or failure of the Student Visa. There are plenty of students who come to me after their Student Visa rejections due to wrong selection of programs and most importantly, incorrect level of selection of programs. The Canadian education is divided into Undergraduate and Post graduate programs. A Student can go for an undergraduate program post his class 12th. These programs can be 2 years Diploma, 3 years of Diploma or 3 / 4 years of Bachelor program. NOTE: avoid a 1 year of Diploma as this program most gets a negative result. Furthermore, if you are a Bachelors you can choose a Post graduate program, you can select 1 /2 years of Post graduate certification or Post graduate Diploma or even a Masters of 1 or 2 years.
    • Province selection: This is the trickiest part when you choose a program. You have to choose a province depending on the age, job market and demand of the program. I would ideally recommend you to do some research in terms of the job market while selection of the province. Moreover, if your study age is more than 28-29 consider provinces other than Ontario or British Columbia. You can still consider areas which are in away from the cities if you wish to study in Ontario or British Columbia. For an instance, if you wish to study in Ontario and your age is more than 28-29 years, I would recommend to look for options in outskirts like Barrie, Hamilton, Kitchener and other. NOTE: there is no such rule in the immigration but it is been witnessed based on my experience as the Canadian immigration wants people to settle down in the areas which are deserted.

Suggestion: For students with more age, I generally recommend provinces like Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia as these are the provinces who have better success rates for senior applicants. That said, you need to make sure, your Statement of Purpose has to be very clear explaining your intent for study.

All in all, 29 years is a good age for studying in Canada. In fact. you can get molded to the new environment and work culture.

    Hello my dear Friend,

Ideally Canadian Student Visa application taken somewhere between 1 Month to 3 Months depending on the complexity of the application. It is ideally recommended to follow a complete checklist of documents while applying for Canada Student Visa. If the file is complete and self explanatory, the Canadian Student Visa application might be processed in a very less time.

I have witnessed the shortest time to process the Canada Student Visa application in just 11 working days. Please find few of the link of the Students having received the Student Visa in 11 – 15 days.

Furthermore, I have witnessed that if you follow the below list of documents, you can see good results in less time:

    • Passport clear copy
    • IF you have Travel history, add the stampings of In and Out of your home country along with the Visa.
    • Offer Letter and Letter of Acceptance
    • Educational documents : clear marksheets, degree certificates and Transcripts
    • Work Experience : Add your Offer letter, relieving letter or experience letter from your employers in the last 10 years
    • Financials: Income tax documents, Valuation certificate, Income tax documents, Bank Statements
    • Additionally, if your name is different from the passport on any of the documents, please make a name change affidavit
    • And many more

NOTE: Some of the files and cases might be different and thus, the document list may not be standard but might differ from case to case.

The complete set of documents will proliferate the probability of getting your visa decision faster. That said, if there are any missing documents, the Visa immigration officer will send an email or note to you to furnish the required document, but it increases the turn around time.

All in all, adding all documents will lead to faster results.

    Dear Friend,

The purpose of Visitor Visa in Canada is for leisure or vacation or meeting a friend / family. When you apply for a Canadian Tourist / Visitor Visa, they always seek an elucidation in a letter declaring the purpose of travel to Canada.

I am sure, if you mention that you wish to work in Canada on Visitor Visa, the Immigration will certainly reject your Visitor Visa.

Additionally, you can also apply for Business Visa. This visa again allows you to attend conferences, conduct Business meetings, handshaking with customers / vendors, knowing the Canadian business market and other. Having said that, you are strictly forbidden to perform work or take up a job in Canada on Business Visa as well. You can lay the foundation of your business or do a ground work for business but you cannot earn money or charge fees which the visit to Canada.

If you wish to work in Canada, you will need to apply for Work Permit which is LMIA Work Permit. For this, you will need an Employer from Canada who is a genuine employer who wishes to hire your services. Also, make sure, that the Employer has to fulfil certain criteria to sponsor your Work permit.

All in all, you cannot work on Visitor Visa or Business visa but you will need to apply for a Work permit in Canada.

    Dear friend,
Stepwise procedure to apply for Canada PR
    1. Gather Work Experience: If you are a student in Canada, gather Work experience of 6 Months or 1 year and apply your PR. Gather all your Work experience documents, Pay stubs, Offer Letter, Experience Letter, Relieving Letter.
If you are not in Canada, you still need to gather International Work experience to apply for Express Entry.
    2. Give IELTS / Celpip/ CAEL : Appear for IELTS General, Celpip General or CAEL General for your Canada PR. English Language requirement is obligatory. If you are applying for Express Entry, you need a very good score of 8777 or 8888 in all sections of IELTS. If you are within Canada, then the IELST score requirement is meagre around 6 in each.
    3. Complete Educational Credential Assessment: Educational Credential Assessment is mandatory. This report will tell the IRCC the equivalency of your International education to Canadian education standards. This step can be done from CES, WES, IQAS, CES or other.
    4. Income Documents
Consolidate your income documents like Salary slips, Income tac filing document and any other document that proves your financial worth.
    5. Police clearance
This is one of the very important document that you need to apply for Permanent residency for Canada. The Police Clearance is a document that is been issued by the local Police authority in your home country. Also, it is important to know that, you seek Police clearance from a country where you have stayed for more than 6 Months at a stretch. This includes all the countries other than your home country.
    6. Medical Examination
Canada would require a Medical examination report to validate that you are medically fit to enter the country. Canada allows all medical conditions like Heart ailment, Disabilities, accident or surgeries in the past. Having said that, it does not permit individuals to come to Canada if they have a communicable diseases like Tuberclosis at Level 3, Aids at Level 3 or cancer which is at Level 3 as the acute diseases would cause a burden on the country financially. HIV, Tuberclosis or Cancer at Level 1 and 2 might be evaluated and considered by the immigration officer.
    7. Create Express Entry profile
Once you are eligible and prepared with all the required documents, you will have to create an Express Entry profile. Also, make sure when you create an Express Entry profile you should look at the points at which the lottery is been picked up at. If you run short of points, you might have to consider looking for some of the Provincial Nomination Programmes which will help you for your Express Entry points. Also, seeking a job offer from your Employer ie LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) will increase your points. Another way of increasing your points is having Canadian education or Work Experience.

    Dear friend,

France allows study gap of 6 years provided it is been justified which means, you can show your relevant work experience while this study gap.

Also, while course selection in France, you will have to select the course which is in-line with your previous education or in-line with your previous Work experience.

To illustrate, if you have done a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or Information technology but your Work experience is in Team management or Project Management, you can opt for a course of your Masters in either field – IT Related or Management related. You can go ahead with AI or Software related course or Project Management or Business Analysis related course.

Furthermore, please check the university criteria for study gap or Work Experience gap before applying for any course.

    Dear friend,

This is a trick question to answer but depends on the scenario. But in all scenarios look for a Career Coach rather than an agent.

Below are the factors that you should consider:

    1. Admission: An agent will help you in seeking admission in Canadian Universities / colleges as per his benefit, while a Career Coach will help you get admission in any college or university regardless of the perks
    2. Course Finalization and Career options: An Agent will tell you to take a course without an analysis or understanding, while a certified coach will help you finalize and narrow down your career aspirations and fields. Additionally, the Career coach conduct multiple tests (Psychometric, Aptitude Questionnaire / survey and Interviews to understand your liking in the subject. Additionally, will tell you about the job opportunities, salary scales, wages, benefits and dis-benefits and many other factors.
    3. Scholarships: Career Coach will help you seek scholarships as they are well aware of the processes and documentations, mostly the eligibility.
    4. Visa Process: This is the most important factor and a decision benchmark which you should keep by evaluating the Visa success ratio of the consultant as this is the vital factor for your selection. A Consultant with better Visa insights would be preferable.
    5. Post Landing support: This is an added feather on a hat. This is where most of them fail. I strongly recommend to go ahead with someone who has better Post Landing services like: Accommodation search, Flight search, Job related help, Resume building and other
    6. PR Assistance and Guidance: It is always good to think big. Your consultant should be well aware to guide you on the PR options and prospects. As one wrong step might lead to a PR Rejection. To illustrate, I have seen cases where PR has been rejected due to application been filed under wrong NOC codes(National Occupation codes) or misleading data which was provided at the time of Student permit application. To illustrate, I have seen a case who had not shown his work experience while the student application but at the time of PR application, a certain Work Experience was demonstrated. This may be a mistake form your consultant but as per IRCC, ignorance is an excuse.

To summarize, you can do the entire progression by yourself if you are aware of the entire process. Having said that, having a consultant eases your work and probability of success.
